Shopping Adventures--Vintage Post

After checking out Mary's sunglasses several weeks ago, I decided to see what was new at Nordstrom in the Grove. First to the fragrance department. Got to get my smell goods! I put Bvlgari Black on my wish list.  It's just my style. I also checked out some other new fragrances. Then Mike at MAC tricked-out my eyes. It's all about the eyes...u see! I pre-ordered one of their Christmas Sets, but I'm not telling you for who. Then I went to the shoe department, where I had a complete shoegrasm over these Chloe pony hair shoe booties. Don't you agree they are fire?

MAC is on trend with plaids for it's Christmas Gift Sets

Our Fav Finds

Everyone knows that Forever 21 is A M A Z I N G. You can always find cute items and trendy looks without breaking the bank. The purse was spotted at the Beverly Center when we were at Rachel Roy's event. A lady was dressed well in Louboutin shoes so we thought her entire outfit was designer. We asked about the purse and to our surprise she said, "Forever!" Lucky for us! Checkout the items.

For Colored Girls - Our Adventure

Sherry and I met up for a little shopping and dinner at the Century City Plaza. Around 11:00 p.m. we walked into the movie theater to validate our parking tickets. The ticket collector seemed a bit interested in Sherry as he stopped to talk to her. I think it was her smile! The next thing that I know we were being escorted to For Colored Girls movie that was starting in a few minutes! Talk about on the spur of the moment and unexpected.

As for a movie review, we'll save that for later. We enjoyed the movie and was thankful to Mr. Ticket Collector for escorting us for a complimentary movie. Sherry and I left the movie theater and proceeded to leave the parking structure in our separate cars. We pulled up to the parking gate a little after each other and I gave the ticket to the attendant. The next words that I heard were, " that will be 21 dollars!" hmmm....yeah right! I had $5.00 on me that I borrowed from Sherry to pay for parking. I told him that's all I have, he accepted it. After the gate lifted, I pulled just a little ahead. Then I looked at my daughter and said, " let's see Sherry's reaction". The next thing we heard was this high pitched voice  that said, "What... 21 dollars, I never heard of that before!" Yeah, that was Sherry... she also paid $5.00 to exit!

We wanted to provide the telephone numbers and websites below, as a result from watching the movie. If you or anyone that you know need information about  HIV and Aids, domestic abuse, teen pregnancy, and sexual assault crimes these organizations are here to assist you.

Glam out with Lashes

Looking for a way to update your look or want to try something different, lashes are your answer. It's a simple way to refresh your look and they look F A B! The holiday season is coming, lashes are a way to glam your look without breaking the wallet. Plus, with tons of parties and pictures...lashes will look fabulous...Have your eyes pop this holiday season!

Click on the link or follow the instructions for applying lashes:

Instructions on Applying Lashes

  • Your local drugstore has a variety of false eyelashes usually under $5. Reputable brands include Ardell and Revlon.
  • Try demi lash strips--they are easier to apply than individual lashes. Demi lashes also look more natural than longer kinds.
  • Don't use the glue the package provides; it is harsher on your eyes. A great one to try is Duo adhesive glue. It is sensitive and has a darker tone that enhances the lashes.
  • Remove the lashes very gently from the packaging, they are lightly glued down so you don't want any lashes to dislodge from the strip.
  • There is a left strip and a right strip. Hold the package up to the mirror to distinguish between the two and only remove the second after you've applied the first. You don't want them to get mixed up.
  • Hold the lash strip up to your eye to check the length--it shouldn't be too long or it will be uncomfortable. Trim the ends one at a time with scissors if necessary. Demi lashes usually don't have this problem.
  • To add the glue: start at one end and squeeze very gently on the tube all along the lash line. Too much and it will be goopy; not enough and it won't stick.
  • Wait 30 seconds until glue is more sticky than wet.
  • Line the strip along your eyelid right above your natural lashes as close as you can, pressing gently. Hold for 10 seconds. Use the crimped edge of the glue tube to press along the lash line for extra hold and then you are set.
  • Don't forget that false eyelashes are disposable: throw them away after one use.

Fashion Spotlight: Designer Kelly Nishimoto

Sherry and I met up at the W Hotel in Hollywood for a fashion show by Kelly Nishimoto. Although, I was a little late and missed the pink carpet that night, it was filled with fun, fashion, and socializing. The models were gorgeous but the designs were a force to be reckon with. Kelly has been featured in numerous magazines such as InSyle, Lucky, and Cosmo Girl along with a number of other publications that are too long to list. Her designs are stylish, sophisticated and elegant.
